What is BPC-157?

Body Protection Compound 157 is a fragment of a protein found in gastric juice. Its tissue-regenerative ability isn’t limited to our stomachs, however. In fact, BPC-157 has been found to promote increased healing and repair in nearly every kind of tissue in which it has been studied.

BPC-157 is a synthetic version of a compound found naturally in the stomach that is thought to be a healing protein. Some studies have shown accelerated healing in animals and shorter recovery time. Other studies have noted potential benefits for improving mobility, strength, and flexibility in joints and connective tissue.

Benefits of BPC-157

  • Accelerated Healing From Injury & Training
  • Rapid Tendon & Ligament Healing
  • Enhanced Joint Mobility
  • Stronger Connective Tissue
  • Improved Flexibility
  • Enhanced Wound Healing
  • Accelerated Muscle Cell Growth
  • Joint health: reverses systemic corticosteroid-impaired muscle healing
  • Gut health: helps to heal stomach and intestine lining
  • Improves leaky gut:  helps close gap junctions

Side effects can include:

In human trials as well as in clinical application there have been essentially no reported adverse events. Very rarely, mild digestive issues such as nausea are mentioned anecdotally. Nutrition and lifestyle modifications should be incorporated with the administration of BPC-157 in order to see the best results.

How BPC-157 Works

It is known that BPC-157 circulates through the entire body and is attracted to signaling molecules produced by injured tissues, but it is still unknown for certain the exact mechanism with which it heals. It is speculated that it most likely varies depending on the particular tissue and nature and mechanism of the injury. Although the way in which BPC-157 works is not fully understood, the scientific literature has identified some potential sources of this compound’s healing power. A link is noted between BPC-157 and its effect on the FAK-paxillin pathway (focal adhesion kinase – an enzyme present in injured tissues), nitric oxide, and increased VEGF activity (vascular endothelial growth factor), and the upregulation of growth hormone receptors in injured tissues. VEGF specifically is responsible for angiogenesis of new blood vessels and is the most likely mechanism by which BPC-157 can promote the healing of joint structures, tendons, and ligaments as it allows for an increased delivery of nutrients and various healing factors that are required for growth and repair. Collagen is the major component of joint structures, ligaments, and tendons. Their healing can benefit from the increases in collagen production, which BPC-157 may stimulate.

How BPC-157 is Administered

For musculoskeletal issues, BPC-157 is typically given daily as a subcutaneous injection near the site of injury.  This method is also beneficial for general exercise or stress recovery as well as gut issues. However, for gut health problems, the preferred administration is actually orally by capsule twice daily.  One of the largest obstacles to oral administration of any compound, especially peptides, is the volatile nature of the stomach.  Fortunately, BPC-157, probably due to the fact that it is derived from gastric juices, seems to hold up very well in this harsh environment to deliver an effective dose of the consumed amount.

The History of BPC-157

BPC is a protein found naturally in the human digestive tract. It plays a significant role in protecting the lining of the gastrointestinal tract from damage, promoting healing, and encouraging blood vessel growth. BPC 157 is a Penta-decapeptide composed of 15 amino acids. It is a partial sequence of the body protection compound (BPC) that was discovered in and isolated from human gastric juice. Animal studies have shown it accelerates the healing of many wounds, including muscle, tendon, and damaged ligaments. Additionally, BPC 157 has been shown to protect organs and aid in the prevention of gastric ulcers. BPC-157 acts systemically in the digestive tract to combat leaky gut, IBS, gastrointestinal cramps, and Crohn’s disease. This peptide has been known to exhibit analgesic characteristics. Research has shown its ability to help skin burns heal at a faster rate by increasing blood flow to damaged tissues. BPC-157 significantly accelerates reticulin and collagen formation as well as angiogenesis together with stimulation of macrophages and fibroblasts infiltration representing a potential therapeutic tool in wound healing management.

How Can BPC-157 Help with My Health and Promote Weight Loss?

BPC-157 is one of the most effective regenerative or healing substances known.  Similar to Biocidin, it can promote a balance in the digestive tract through detoxification and healing of the gut lining.  This allows improved nutrient absorption and food metabolism. Additionally, for most patients, exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and weight loss program. BPC-157 is an asset that we use to reduce healing time, allowing you to get back to your activities more quickly.
